Walking in the Snow

by der hofnarr

Images... perceptions... pictures in my mind
Coalesce together, and at times I find
It difficult to differentiate
Between my friends and foes...
For whene'er the fierce wind blows,
So many friendly faces seem to fade away
Into the distance...

Whenever circumstances alter and my steps begin to falter -
Just when I'm needing some assistance just to stand
It seems that everyone who called me friend'
Just seems to disappear
And I'm always left alone
Facing images in mirrors.

'Never close your lips
To those to whom you've opened up your heart'
A learned man once said.
If you refuse to talk with me
You may as well be dead.

I will no longer let myself
Be embroiled in memories past.
You were not the first I've loved
And you'll sure not be the last

You've taught me many lessons ...
I hope I've learned them well.
Yes... you've taught me many lessons -
Now only time will tell.

You're one of the prettiest ladies
I've had occasion to know...
And now that I've experienced Hades -
I think I shall go walking through the snow.
